The Mobile Index

For you that always thought we needed a dictionary for the jargons of the mobile/digital world, check out The Mobile Index

One thing I did not know is that there was a term (Nomophobia – See video above) to label this addictive attachment that we have to our smartphones. I bet there are many more in the list that I need to check out.

Which one stand out for you? Can you suggest some that should be there?

TED – Sherry Turkle: Connected, but alone?

Deep, complex, scary…. but true… people might think she’s ‘exaggerating’ but put this in perspective and imagine this in a 50 year life span, when a great majority of the population did not learn, to be alone and to have a conversation with a real human being…

Can you be by yourself without being connected to anything for, let’s say 2 hours?

Thanks to @TaylorMann for the link.

Musicr Social Community for musicians

This is genius… if you’re a musician, beginner that’s looking for someone to play with or want to have an idea of the ‘musical taste’ of your city or surroundings @appmusicr is a new social network developed for the iPhone that does just that (see the video above). I am already creating my profile, kudos to TouchBee.

Some points that I believe should be considered:

  1. Musicr is a cool name, I give you that, but its really close to the word MUSIC which doesn’t help SEO at all. The first instinct of anyone to search on the app store Musicr and not MusicrApp
  2. This would make a great ‘add-on’ to Facebook or twitter. As much as I love the idea, it needs to build a great audience until the app is truly useful  – that takes time. It would be unique if this could be implemented to an already established social network.
  3. This point contradicts the previous, a bit, but…. the music fans and enthusiasts are one of the strongest communities online. They are fast learners, early adopters and super creative, so there’s a great chance for this app to succeed!
