I’m at COFFEECO right now working on assignments and having a Café Mocha, pretty good by the way. Something very unusual just happened.

Four 12 year old girls came into the store and said to the lady behind the counter:

“Can we ask you a question?”

The lady said:

“Of course”

“Does the name of your company is ”COFFE ECO” or ”COFFEECO” (like one word, try to say it your self, sounds funny)

Mandy, the girl behind the counter, handles the question in a way I wasn’t expecting:

“Well… depends! the one you like best!”

The infats smiled and said:

“Yes we like best COFFECO, sounds better!”

Mandy replied:

“we called it Coffee Eco, but you can say it like that too!”

The kids smiled among each other and thanked her attention and left.

That blew my mind! for several reasons. First being, it’s unusual for 12 year old kids to think about brand names, isn’t it? but more important, they actually acted and went inside the store to talk to the girl.

Second on the list would be, is how people perceive things in different ways, but that’s topic for another post

What does that has to do with marketing?

The way COFFE ECO’s staff handled the question, she empowered the customer! She allowed the girls to do wherever they wanted with the brand.

Now I ask you

Isn’t this exactly what we are seeing around the world with social media and the new marketing movement.

I am sure that she wasn’t trained to do so, that was just real people interaction. It was natural.

I think to do marketing will get easier when we understand everything is about people now. Real people and real interaction, in both real and digital world.

This website/blog will be the home of my newest projects and ideas.

Here I would like to share my ideas surrounded by my perspective. We probably have different world views, and that’s great! That’s what make life interesting. I am a 23 year old brazilian guy that live in Canada. I have a undergrad in advertising and I am studying Integrated Marketing Communication in St. Lawrence College, why that’s important? Because I love what I do.

I love people, and how we behave as a society. That fascinate me. I think that’s why I started loving advertising 5 years ago.

Well, this is just me trying to figure out what I want with the website, but it’s valuable to share with whoever want to read.

Pepsi is giving away over a million dollars to fund great ideas. We, at SIFE St. Lawrence College developed a project and marketing campaign to win the fund and change our community.

We didn’t want to just ask people for votes. We wanted to create a movement. So we created the concept iClickuEat which is based on the idea that you have to join the movement and feel part of it with us. We developed the video to contextualize about the idea and how they could help. We also designed a website that is named after the movement so we can redirect people to the movement homepage. This project is still on going and we are having good results, but we still need to push the campaign to get the result we want.

I had the opportunity to work with Stantive though a College initiative to connect students and the business community. I was fortunate to get in touch with amazing people like Doug Girvin and Linda Ross.

The company at the time was developing a Content Management System that is built on top of the Force.com platform. They didn’t have a name for the software. I was fortunate enough to have the idea and to be in the right place at the right time.

So I created the branding starting from the name to logo and website. Visit www.orchestracms.com

Variani Giuliani Law firm is a 16 years old company situated in Porto Alegre Brazil. The company asked me to develop a brand that mixed innovation, seriousness and a touch of elegance.

Coopssol is a Solidarity Sociology Cooperative. They are a cooperative company that develop various kinds of social projects:

Marketing Challenge:

The institution was facing several problems:

-Brand misperception – Their name was wrongly being associated with political parties.
-Awareness and better perception of the brand (related to social innovation).
-Lack of communication with all kinds of audiences.
-Misunderstanding services.
-Start the culture of marketing communication inside the institution.

And biggest challenge was also the budget that was $0.

To solve the communication problem we developed a website based on WordPress technology. This tool is very useful in two ways:

1st – It’s free

2nd – The client can manage the content. (require training).

The website also solve the services misunderstanding, because is a way that people that are interested in the services can go online and know more about it.

The results were amazing, everybody in the institution are participating and wanting to know more and help. They are raising money to print “collaborative business cards” and also office material.

This brand was created to the Band ‘Anonymous Society’. The band wanted to communicate trough the logo society dirtiness and roughness; they also wanted an apology to the classical Anarchy ‘A’. Other though that we added to the logo is the power that money have in nowadays society.
